Our 2012 Walks
Last year we had different chapters host walks and it did OK - but faded towards the end.
I thought this year we would try something a little different - walk with a purpose. By this I mean - there are so many different charity walks that we could do together that no individual
chapter needs to take the responsibility for - but it would still allow us to walk as a TOPS team.We are still getting the benefit of walking, socializing with fellow chapters, and an extra bonus
of supporting some great causes.
due to lack of interest
The MS Walk is the MS Society’s largest pledge-based fundraiser involving over 60,000 participants and volunteers in more than 160 communities across Canada in the spring and early fall. Each event location has routes of varying length and at least one that is wheelchair accessible.
The Walk began in 1991 and is now one of our most important events. In 2010, it raised over $14 million, the proceeds of which have gone to fund research in the search for a cure and vital services for people currently living with MS.
Although each community leaves their own unique mark on the event, no matter where you live you can be sure that you’ll come out to experience a day full of excitement and hope that one day we will live in a world without MS, and you’ll leave knowing that you are a valuable contributor to making it a reality.
The MS Walk is truly a family-oriented, community-supported event that makes a difference in the lives of Canadians living with MS. Register today and join us in the fight to end MS.
I have already signed up a team for TOPS - Take Off Pounds Sensibly. I am pretty sure you can click on the picture above and join the team on your own, but if you would like you can send me your information below and I will be more than happy to sign you up.
The suggested fundraising goal per individual is 125.00/500.00 a team. Perhaps your chapter would like to get involved as a whole; or help sponsor a member or two. Different fundraising ideas t help support members participating in thie walk would also be greatly appreciated. Anyone who participates in this walk will be given a button with the Team Name on it.
