The Best Way Out is Always Through

I'll be happy when...

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, when we are able to go on a nice vacation or when we retire. The truth is there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when? Your life will always be filled with challenges.

It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time with ... and remember that time waits for no one.

So, stop waiting ...

Until your car or home is paid off.
Until you get a new car or home.
Until your kids leave the house.
Until you go back to school.
Until you finish school.
Until you lose 10 lbs.
Until you gain 10 lbs.
Until you get married.
Until you get a divorce.
Until you have kids.
Until you retire.
Until summer..
Until spring.
Until winter.
Until fall.
Until you die.

There is no better time than right now to be happy. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. So work like you don't need money, love like you've never been hurt, and, dance like no one's watching.

Just like I tell millions of people week after week in my articles, you can't wait until you reach your goal weight to start living, starting living the life that you want, and doing so TODAY will get you one day closer to that reality!!!

Through the years, I have met too many women who intentionally put off living the life they dream of because of their weight. IF your weight is holding you back--what's holding you back from losing 50lbs over the next 26 weeks?

Do or do not, there is no try.
- Yoda (Star Wars movie)

What's wrong with the common advice to Try, and Try Harder? Saying, "I'll try," tends to feel half-hearted and unconvincing. We wouldn't say, "I'm going to try to go to the store for a loaf of bread," we would just say, "I'm going," and so we would. We would feel extremely unsafe in the pilot of our aircraft announced, "I'm going to try to land at the New York airport in five minutes." When we say something like, "I'm going to try to get a better job," we exhibit a lack of confidence that inhibits our ability to accomplish what we intend. Just take a deep breath, tell the world what you are going to do, and then do it.

This is a Thinker

There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind.
She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, 'If I could only see the world, I will marry you.

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.

He asked her,'Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?'
The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected that.
The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him. Her boyfriend left in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying:

'Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before they were yours, they were mine.'

This is how the human brain often works when our status changes. Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who was always by their side in the most painful situations. Life Is a Gift.

Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's crying out to GOD for a companion.

Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who went too early to heaven.

Before whining about the distance you drive think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your face and think: you're alive and still around.

How to Dance in the Rain

It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80's
arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.

I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be
over an hour before someone would to able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would
evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the
doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his
wound.

While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's
appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry.

The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I inquired as to her health.

He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim
of Alzheimer's Disease.

As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late.

He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not
recognized him in five years now.

I was surprised, and asked him, 'And you still go every morning, even
though she doesn't know who you are?'

He smiled as he patted my hand and said,

'She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is.'

I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm, and
thought,

'That is the kind of love I want in my life.'
True love is neither physical, nor romantic.
True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will
not be.

With all the jokes and fun that are in e-mails, sometimes there is one
that comes along that has an important message. This one I thought I could
share with you.

The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they
just make the best of everything they have.
I hope you share this with someone you care about. I just did.

''Life isn't about how to survive the storm,
but how to dance in the rain.'

The Wooden Bowl

A frail old man went to live with
his son, daughter-in-law, and four-years - old grandson.

The old man's hands trembled,
his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered.

The family ate together at the
table. But the elderly grandfather's shaky hands and
failing sight made eating
difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor.

When he grasped the glass, milk
spilled on the tablecloth.

The son and daughter-in-law
became irritated with the mess.
'We must do something about
father,' said the son.

'I've had enough of his
spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor.'

So the husband and wife set a
small table in the corner.

There, Grandfather ate alone
while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner.

Since Grandfather had broken a
dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl.

When the family glanced in
Grandfather's direction, sometimes he had a tear in his
eye as he sat alone.

Still, the only words the couple
had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork
or spilled food.

The four-year-old watched it all
in silence.

One evening before supper, the
father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the
floor.

He asked the child sweetly,
'What are you making?' Just as sweetly, the boy
responded,

'Oh, I am making a little
bowl for you and Mama to eat your food in when I grow up.
The four-year-old smiled
and went back to work.

The words so struck the parents
so that they were speechless.

Then tears started to stream down
their cheeks.

Though no word was spoken, both
knew what must be done.

That evening the husband took
Grandfather's hand and gently led him back to the
family table.

For the remainder of his days he
ate every meal with the family. And for some reason,
neither husband nor wife seemed
to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or
the tablecloth soiled.

On a positive note, I've
learned that, no matter what happens,
how bad it seems today, life does
go on, and it will be better tomorrow.

I've learned that you can
tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles four
things:
a rainy day, the elderly, lost
luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

I've learned that, regardless
of your relationship with your parents,
you'll miss them when
they're gone from your life.

I've learned that making a
'living' is not the same thing as making a
'life..'

I've learned that life
sometimes gives you a second chance.

I've learned that you
shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on
both hands.

You need to be able to throw
something back

I've learned that if you
pursue happiness, it will elude you

But, if you focus on your
family, your friends, the needs of others,

your work and doing the very best
you can, happiness will find you

I've learned that whenever I
decide something with an open heart, I usually make the
right decision.

I've learned that even when I
have pains, I don't have to be one.

I've learned that every day,
you should reach out and touch someone.

People love that human touch --
holding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the
back.

I've learned that I still
have a lot to learn.
