Action: Add water
Let's first address what can be substituted for soft drinks or any other high-sugar, high-calorie drink that you may be consuming on a regular basis. Your first action - one that will develop into a healthy habit and will change your life dramatically over time is making water an important part of your every day life.
Substituting water for high-calorie liquids (and their refined sugars) will result in zero calories, adequate hydration, optimal body function, and better focusing. You'll replace toxins with clean and healthy liquids, sluggishness with more energy, expensive drinks with inexpensive or free water. And the time you spend buying unhealthy drinks can be better utilized.
Water's Health Benefits
Water has many other important functions
- Carries nutrients in the body
- Lubricates joints
- Helps regulate body temperature
- Cleanses the bod of waste products
- Excretes wastes though urine
- Acts as a solvent to dissolve and carry many substances ( minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, and vitamins)
Don't worry about anything else right now - not what you are eating or if you are getting enough exercise - we'll get to that. Right now, drinking water is the most important action in your life related to your body's state of health and weight. The only focus you need to have today is being sure you have adequate stock of water.
How did you do?

Try to keep track of how much water you drank today - this can include clear unsweetened tea and black coffee also. Share your amount later this evening or tomorrow morning before day two is opened up.......

Well I am making a pact with myself today that before I can have my diet coke or my ice java..I must have tea or water in between....this is the way I plan on adding more water to my day ---
so far I am adding bathroom trips to my day too....as Carol says "burn an extra 100" I'm burning more running up an down the steps :)
will update my consumption later..should be interesting as I am NEVER without something to drink... -

I definitely know what you mean with the extra bathroom breaks.
For the contest this week, I am already drinking more than I usually do. This should be interesting, haha.
I hope I am able to keep the increased water consumption up. I will post later as to how much I drank today (: -

Two liters is my standard daily consumption of water. I keep two one liter bottles on my counter to remind myself and I can easily see how much more I have to go till it's all "in". I try to drink it all before 7pm to avoid getting up in the night.

Thinking about water today was easy as I had a broken pipe that was leaking water in my rec room.
I did also drink water today. I too made it a point to drink a cup (actually, a timmies mug) of water between other liquids.
I plan to keep it up as I noticed that it also made me feel fuller.

Well I guess you had your share of water Ellen....hope it is all fixed now.....
I found it easier too having a glass between any other drink. If I wanted something I had to have my water - if I wanted it bad enough - I just drank my water quicker.
I was able to get 10 glass of water/clear tea in today....
wish I could cut off my water by 7 like you Melody - heck I go to bed with a large mug of sleepy time tea and a large glass of water..so I am up at least twice a night.
Everyone was ready for day two??? -

Every time I pass the kitchen sink, I try to have a glass of water, and when I am out, I try to bring my water bottle with me and filled up.

Well, yesterday I had 12 glasses of water. It seems a bit over the top, but I didn't even realize I was drinking so much. I just kept writing it down, and before I knew it I had downed 12 glasses. I am not sure I would keep THAT up everyday haha.
