Action:
- Continue to move toward the recommended intake of water each day.
- Substitute healthy food(s) in place of your food vice.
One of the first issues raised when it comes to eliminating the unhealthy fast food or the cookies, chocolates, or ice cream (whatever your food vice is), is whether it is necessary to completely remove the item from the diet. Many people have turned down this approach because they don't think they need to completely give up the foods they like. While I'm not saying you can't enjoy food, the problem is that you may have been enjoying it too much at the expense of healthy eating. At this point, if you have some, you may want more! It is very, very difficult to have just one bite of a food you love without slipping back to old habits you formed from foods and beverages that are addictive.
At first you may think you are being deprived mentally and physically, but by giving up one food item, there is a lot to be gained.
Deprivation is not living without an unhealthy food. It's living with it and not being able to enjoy life at a healthy weight, with a more fit body that is more energetic. Deprivation is keeping yourself from doing so many things that you should be able to do - but don't because of the extra weight. The only time deprivation exists is when you choose unhealthy over healthy. That will deprive you of your true potential.
What are your thoughts on this concept?

I can see a point to this with my potato chips. Like I said I just can't have them in the house - there is no single portioning them out. If they are here I will eat them. So I fixed it by not buying them (at least in big bags) like I said before occasionally I will buy a small bag when the craving is so bad and enjoy every single one of them.

I'm behind a week in this challenge!! Last week I had too much going on in my life to be able to increase my water intake. But I am committed to taking this challenge seriously this week. I know my optimal water intake. I'm not even half way there, but will try to increase it every day.
Also I have identified a food ( cookies as snack), that may sound easy to omit, but when the time for a tea break comes round, a cookie or something sweet is very powerful. I'm starting today to not have a sweet snack with my afternoon cup of tea.
I have tried to incorporate the affirmations. Again I find that it's easier to do in the evening or around breakfast, than when I first get up out of bed.
Anyway I'm still up for the challenge, Anne

It is hard only if you let it, I got told to stop drinking my coffee and tea with sugar and cream, I didnt think I could but I surprized myself. Now I am slowly cutting back on my unheathly foods now. And I know I can do it

This week the water intake is not going so well. good reminder to try harder starting again today.
Potato chips were my big problem, they are not in the house anymore. But I have replaced them with rice cakes or crackers. I still have to be careful and limit the amount. I will eat a whole bag of rice cakes (small ones) sweets I can pass on -

I actually have not had sweets with my afternoon tea for the past two days. So that is good. I've also increased my water intake, almost to my required level. We'll see how I do at my next weigh in.
I keep thinking about the fact that one has to replace an unwanted habit with a new one, something positive. I don't know if I've found the right balance yet, but I will keep positive about the challenge. -
