Actions:
- Carry a water bottle with you and drink plenty of water.
- Substitute a healthy food in place of your food vice.
BUSTING TELEVISION
It may seem odd to focus on television (or computers) in a weight loss plan but it fits the definition of a habitual action that keeps you from reaching and maintaining a healthy weight. The hours you spend in front of the t.v. are keeping you from doing productive things, like using your imagination to come up with new ideas, inventions, approaches, techniques, solutions to your own problems or situations - or even to those problems that exist on a global scale.
It's possible that television is just as addictive as some of the foods available to us. How else could it be that we are watching (using?) it four hours a day? There are plenty of other exciting, fascination, exhilarating and productive things that we can do. I'm not suggesting that you eliminate TV entirely, but that you use it more judiciously and perhaps at the same time as you engage in some calorie-burning exercise.
ADDING EXERCISE TO YOU LIFE
In order to improve your health and fitness, it is necessary to incorporate exercise into your life, and because the action this week is about TV, you must begin to enforce a new rule as you make the transition to a healthy and fit lifestyle:
No TV (or computer) unless you've already done, or are doing, some exercise.
That does not mean that you have to exercise at all times you normally watch TV. It means if you are going to watch TV then you need to have completed your exercise for the day.
Exercise has got to be a part of your daily life in order for you to be healthy and fit.
One of the easiest ways to get started exercising (or to increase the time you now exercise) is to do it while watching TV. If you have one TV show you enjoy, why not plan to be doing something while watching? If it's possible, go to your gym and walk, job, or run (depending on your health and fitness level) on the treadmill while your favorite show airs. Not only will you not have to give up watching TV, but you can focus on something entertaining while you exercise.
OUTLOOK FOR WEEK 3
It is important that you have at least three days of exercise scheduled (in pen) this week.
Eat That Frog Clip - well worth the watch
I found this little clip called "Eat that Frog"
if you insert "Do your exercise where it says Eat that Frog" perhaps it will help.
When is your exercise planned?

This is something I struggle with ...always have the intention and usually enjoy my exercise but always find a thousand other things to do instead of - like my life is too busy to fit in time for me excuse :)
So I will schedule exercise this week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday IN INK...and then if I do more it will be a bonus. Will get back to you on the exercise I DID on those days :)
Have you had a chance to watch the little clip above?
Look forward to hearing what 3 days this week you have marked in ink to exercise! -

HI Rhonda
I liked the clip and it is a great reminder to take care of the frog first. The exercise part is easy for me. I do write it in pen and schedule it daily. This week. Tues & Thursday - weight machines at the y followed by Aquafit. Wednesday and Friday morning exercise classes at Body Moves. Mon, Wed & Friday evening walk or elliptical. This weekend I will be in Ottawa and will do a at least one walk per day.
I still have to remind myself to drink the water. I still struggle with the eating at night and I am going to work on that one again this week. Thanks again for the challenge -

I knew this part of the challenge would be easy for you Nancy. It is great that you have made exercise such an important part of your life and I look forward to being that way one day also.
Night time eating seems to be a trouble spot for many people - along with the water intake. None of us will be perfect and I think it is a big step just being aware of it.
I am glad you are enjoying the challenge :) -

I have found that now when I do not get the correct amount of water for the day, I start to actually crave it.
Also, I now have a piece of fruit instead of bread.
The idea of exercising while watching TV is a good one. If a person does not have a tread mill there are some good chair exercises that can be done. Also, just walking on the spot is good too.
